Overview

DevOps started as a way of working and became a job. The engineers we recruit under that name automate delivery, keep systems reliable and build the platforms other teams ship on. We recruit DevOps engineers, platform engineers, cloud engineers and site reliability engineers (SREs), for companies from start-ups to FTSE 100s.

We know this community well, which helps us reach engineers who are not looking. We cover AWS, Azure and GCP, on permanent and contract terms, for single hires and whole teams. One question shapes most searches: does the role suit someone from a software development background, or someone from infrastructure? We ask that before we start.

How we recruit DevOps and platform engineers

Many of the roles we fill are for a single engineer with a lot of ownership. They run the infrastructure, keep it reliable and make most decisions without much oversight. Hiring managers often hope that person will lead a team later. So we ask candidates how they work on their own, and whether they have guided other engineers.

Then the practical detail. Have they run AWS, Terraform and Docker in live environments? Kubernetes, if the brief needs it? Have they worked under SOC 2 or ISO 27001? Cloud experience often carries from one provider to another, and where a gap is small enough to learn, we tell the client.

We share the top of the salary band on the first call, because pay is where these conversations most often come apart. We also ask whether someone wants permanent or contract work. Many experienced DevOps engineers are open to either. We recruit across the UK, Europe, the US and the UAE.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between DevOps, platform and site reliability engineers?

The roles overlap. DevOps engineers typically automate how software is built, tested and released. Platform engineers build the internal tools and platforms other teams ship on. Site reliability engineers focus on keeping live systems reliable, using monitoring, incident response and service level targets. Many job titles mix all three, so we look at what the role will actually own.

Should we look for someone from a development or an infrastructure background?

It depends on the job. Engineers from a development background often suit platform work, developer tooling and automation written as software. Engineers from an infrastructure background often bring deeper networking, systems and reliability experience. Both can be excellent. Knowing which the role leans towards helps us put the right people in front of you.

Do we need engineers certified in AWS, Azure or GCP?

Certifications show some training, but hands-on experience in your cloud matters more. Strong engineers can move between cloud providers, especially if they know infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform. Some clients and partners require certifications, so it is worth including them only where they are really needed.

Should DevOps and platform roles be permanent or contract?

Contract works well for defined pieces of work, such as a cloud migration or introducing a new platform. Cloud and DevOps specialists are among the most requested contractors for exactly that reason. Permanent hires suit ongoing ownership of reliability and platforms, where knowing the systems well over time matters.
